Our Story
From Macalister Lane to Pulau Tikus
Granny Q began with a simple dream — to preserve our grandmother’s cherished laksa recipe and share it with the world. In 2021, four siblings set up a humble stall in Macalister Lane, Penang, powered by pure grit, a family recipe, and a deep desire to bring comfort food to life.
We started with a single dish: Granny Q Lemak Laksa — rich, aromatic, and deeply personal. The response was overwhelming. Locals and foodies soon fell in love with the nostalgic flavors, and word began to spread. We have included Otak-otak, which has also become very popular.
From that small beginning, we’ve grown into a beloved name now proudly based at Sin Yong Wah Coffee Shop, Pulau Tikus.
Our Next Chapter
From Penang to Petaling Jaya
In 2025, we launched our first stall outpost at Kopitiam Station 8, SS2 Petaling Jaya, bringing Penang’s iconic flavors to the Klang Valley. This marked a major milestone — not just for us, but for the vision we hold for the future. It’s about empowering others.
Our goal is no longer just about selling bowls of Lemak Siam Laksa. Our menu list now includes Assam Laksa, Dua Rasa Laksa, Fried Laksa and Penang Prawn Mee.
Through our Granny Q Licensing Concept, we now invite aspiring foodpreneurs to join us in bringing authentic Penang Street food to every corner of the country — and beyond. You don’t need a big kitchen, fancy setup, or years of experience — just heart, hustle, and the desire to serve something real.
